Overview

Goldfinch Prime was a USDC pool on Base that gave KYC-verified non-US investors exposure to interests in large private credit funds and BDCs run by managers such as Apollo, Ares and Golub. Investors held GPRIME pool tokens, and the legal claim took the form of contingent payment notes issued by Heron entities and backed by the fund interests. Goldfinch governance approved its wind-down in June 2026.

Equity interests in third-party private credit funds and BDCs (e.g. Ares Strategic Income Fund; managers incl. Apollo, Ares, Golub), mainly senior secured loans

Notes & material events

WOUND DOWN: governance proposal GIP-87 passed around 23 June 2026. It put Goldfinch into maintenance mode and shut Prime for lack of adoption, and investors were fully redeemed. Goldfinch's legacy v1 borrower pools (separate from Prime) suffered widespread defaults and restructurings, about USD 50m reported, with loan recovery now handled by a restructuring trust. On 2 December 2025 a legacy Ethereum contract was exploited for about USD 330k affecting one user; Goldfinch said its V2/V3 vaults were unaffected. One secondary source (Coinpaprika) describes Prime as for US accredited investors, which conflicts with the Goldfinch FAQ excluding US persons.
